Rodie-Keintz Outstanding New Professional AwardWhat is the purpose of this award? The Rodie-Keintz Outstanding New Professional Award is given to a new professional within ACUI Region 13 who has demonstrated a personal commitment to the college union/student activities field, possessing skills important to the development of students and staff at the recipient's home institution. What/Who is Rodie-Keintz? Rodie-Keintz is in fact the last names of two exemplary individuals who have made a dramatic contribution to Region 13 and their respective ACUI Member institutions. Monika Rodie is the Associate Director of the Shepherd Student Union at Weber State University. She has been involved in the Association of College Unions International for most of her career in the college union field, serving for four years as the Regional Director for Region 13 from 1997-2001. Rodie championed new professional issues and programs during her years as the Regional Director. The New Professional Development Series was implemented as a part of the Regional Conference and Rodie personally served on a regional committee for the development of new professional programs for five years. Her vision and commitment have kept the new professional program as a premiere program of ACUI Region 13. Brian Keintz was the Associate Director of the University of Arizona Student Unions at the University of Arizona. He had been a part of the Region 13 Leadership Team for ten years working at two other institutions in Region 13, including Colorado State University and the University of Wyoming. Keintz had been a strong advocate for new professional programs within Region 13 since 1992 when he began working at the University of Wyoming. Keintz designed, with the new professional committee, the New Professional Development Series for the 1997 Regional Conference and had been a part of planning and delivering this program every year. He served on the Conference Program Team for the 2001 ACUI conference in Albuquerque, NM where he led the effort to put the new professionals program in place at a national level. In 2005, Brian accepted the position of Director, University Center and Auditorium at Florida, Atlantic University. Region 13 will be forever grateful for his contributions. Criteria for selection The successful candidate must: " Be employed by or enrolled at an ACUI member institution for
more than two years, but less than five years. Selection Process 1. Nomination forms will be sent to all Region 13 members. The recipient of the Rodie-Keintz Outstanding New Professional Award
will be recognized during the Region 13 Fall Conference where they will
receive an award of distinction honoring their service and dedication
to the college union/student activities field. Further recognition will
follow with a highlight of awards recipients to be included in the Region
13 Newsletter, The Western Wire. Deadline All nominations must be received by September 8, 2008. All nominators must fill out a nomination form and attach two letters of recommendation: one from a supporter student or staff from the nominee's home institution, and one from a colleague at another institution.
